July 2026. Summer Is Supposed to Feel Lighter. So Why Are You Still Tired?

Summer is supposed to feel easier.
Longer days. Vacations. Cookouts. Family time. A little more room to breathe.
At least that is what it looks like from the outside.
But real life does not stop just because it is summer.
Bills still need to be paid. People still need care. Work still has deadlines. Kids may be home more. Family plans can turn into more responsibility. And sometimes the season that is supposed to feel relaxing ends up feeling just as full as every other month.
If that sounds familiar, you are not doing summer wrong.
You may simply need a different kind of rest.
Rest is not always a vacation. Sometimes it is making one less commitment. Sometimes it is turning your phone off for an hour. Sometimes it is sitting outside without feeling like you need to be productive.
Try these three things this week
1. Stop comparing your summer to someone else’s.
Social media can make it look like everyone is traveling, relaxing, and having the best summer ever.
You do not need to keep up with that.
Ask yourself what would actually feel good and realistic for you right now.
2. Create one small break in your week.
You do not need a whole weekend away. Give yourself one small pocket of time to do something that helps you feel like yourself again.
Take a walk. Sit outside. Read. Pray. Listen to music. Call someone who makes you laugh.
Keep it simple.
3. Let something be enough.
Not every outing has to be big. Not every meal has to be perfect. Not every summer memory has to be planned.
Sometimes the pressure to make the season special can make it harder to enjoy.
This week, choose one thing you can enjoy without turning it into another responsibility.
There is nothing wrong with wanting more rest.
Even Jesus stepped away from the crowds and made room for quiet.
So if summer has not felt as restful as you thought it would, ask yourself this:
What would make this week feel a little lighter?
Then give yourself permission to do that one thing.
You do not have to make the whole summer perfect.
Just make a little more room to breathe.
