Anxiety: A Child’s Language OUT NOW

August 2026. Everybody’s Getting Back on Schedule. But What About You?

August has a way of speeding everything back up.

School starts. Work schedules shift. Activities return. Calendars fill up. Somebody needs supplies, a ride, a form signed, a meal prepared, or a reminder about something they forgot.

And before you know it, everybody is getting back on schedule.

But what about you?

Sometimes we spend so much time helping everyone else adjust that we don’t notice what the new routine is doing to us.

You may be getting up earlier, going to bed later, managing more responsibilities, or trying to fit too much into the same 24 hours.

That pressure adds up.

The answer is not always to “push through.” Sometimes the better question is: What can I make easier?

Try these three things this week

1. Stop doing one thing the hard way.
Look at your week and find one thing you can simplify. Maybe dinner doesn’t have to be complicated. Maybe somebody else can handle a pickup. Maybe everything on your list does not have to happen today.

Making something easier is not the same as being lazy. It is being realistic.

2. Protect one small pocket of time.
You may not have an entire day to yourself. That’s okay. Start smaller. Give yourself 15 or 20 minutes that are not filled with errands, scrolling, work, or taking care of someone else.

Sit outside. Pray. Take a walk. Listen to music. Be quiet.

Let that time belong to you.

3. Pay attention to what is making you tired.
Not all tiredness comes from lack of sleep. Sometimes it comes from too many decisions, too many commitments, too much noise, or always being the person everyone depends on.

Notice what is draining you instead of automatically accepting it as normal.

There is a season for being busy, but busy should not mean completely depleted.

Even in a full season, you can make room to breathe.

This week, don’t try to reorganize your entire life. Pick one thing you can simplify, one thing you can say no to, or one small space you can protect.

The goal is not a perfect routine.

The goal is a routine you can actually live with.
